Current state of Migrants’ Rights in New York and Legal Response by Advocacy Groups
This panel provides a brief background on NYC’s response to the migrant busing crisis. It explores the similarities and differences of the Hudson Valley’s response to the migrant arrivals. It discusses the services being provided by on-the-ground advocates to address the challenges that migrants are facing to their rights, housing, employment and receipt of benefits.

The Effects of US Immigration Law on Children
The discussion will include: how children are treated under the United States’ current immigration system, safeguards and changes to the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), as well as family separation–at the border and within the community–and how this affects children and their families.

Language Justice and the Justice System. 
This panel will identify the differences between Language Access and Language Justice. It will illustrate Limited English Proficiency (LEP) Rights in the Justice System. Specifically, the panel will discuss the Court’s role in ensuring language justice and best practices to accomplish the same.

Attorney Wellness: Vicarious Trauma, Secondary Stress and Burnout
This program will examine the lived experience of immigration/asylum attorneys in navigating their own vicarious trauma, secondary stress, and burnout and in providing services to individuals or families seeking asylum. An interdisciplinary panel of speakers will share perspectives on their work in the field of trauma and trauma-informed care and engage in dialogues about best practices in responding to the needs of immigration/asylum attorneys. Panelists will also discuss lawyer assistance programs and other services available to support attorneys.

The Implications of Trauma on Immigrant Children's Well-Being
Join Dr. Traci Gardner, Medical Director for the Children’s Village and Jasmine Hernandez, Children Rights Attorney, as they shed light on the realities immigrant children face in their home countries forcing them to migrate. The fears, vulnerability and continued trauma they endure as newcomers in America. The holistic approach used to address their physical and emotional needs.
